Hmmmm im with Telstra and im going to NZ next fri. Pretty sure i'll have to call up to turn on roaming and it costs heaps to call.

Does anyone know if the texts etc is included in your cap if you have one and same with internet.

I'd call them but they take forever and usually their non english speaking people have no idea what ur after. theres info on their site but doesnt state what i want to know. just the costs really.

From my understanding, its about $10 extra on to your bill for the month. Calls to Aus numbers are billed as if they are 'local' calls and all NZ numbers will be billed as overseas calls.

I'm with vodafone and thats the deal with them anyway, texts were included. I'm almost 100% certain texts would be included with Telstra too but data may not be.

How long you there for? Intend making calls ?

I always go to a shop and buy a prepaid 30 day sim whenever
I go to NZ, it is way cheaper, roaming sucks big time.

Your phone will need to be unlocked though to use another
SIM card. If yours is not, borrow one that is!

I got a Telecom.co.nz card last trip, it was $29 and
included maybe an hour of calls within NZ.

To call home, get a calling card of some sort to use
unless it is an emergency. Might be a bit late now to
get a local one here, but you can buy them in NZ at all
the backpacker places.

Cheers,

Garry
