I think the biggest problem is that most of these cars are too expensive in Australia...

Some daring fellow was racing an M3 at Lakeside on Sunday, looked the goods and seemed pretty quick

The way Ford is going in the next few years (Scrapping the Falcon) it looks like they might have to go back to this style of racing. They've already had talks with bring Merc in as a Future cars class.

Cause Ford is restructuring their whole line up to a program they call 'One Ford' basically means that every country will have the same cars, much like Honda and BMW. So pretty much the Fords we have here are on the chopping block. The Falcon name might still be used but it will be on a Taurus. This change won't be happening til around 2015. So it looks like the Falcon we currently have is set to be extinct. Also means that RWD and inline 6 could be going as the Taurus is a FWD, but their is talk of having a twin turbo V6 with a AWD variant. But they are fighting to keep it as its the only RWD etc. Sales is whats killing them with that arguement but.

How many Fords do you reckon are sold in Australia, compared to say, the motherland USA? I'm sure their numbers far outweigh the Australian market's love for the Falcon.

That and Fords marketshare in Aus is pretty low compared to Toyota and Holden.

Would be good if Toyota could come up with something to compete in the Supercars...........doubt that will happen, they can't even get a performance division to last very long these days.

We were on track with an F430 Scrudaria on day... See plenty of M series bmws, GT3's, and even some lambos at Timeattack days and Tog Gear sprints.
