As you can imagine, I take cars to mechanics now with 5L of fuel in the tank, and I take photos of the car before had (meticulously) and also take photos of the odo. I do tricks like using a permanent marker to mark certain bolts I know they need to change etc.
i see cars like this all the time at work, and sometimes have a little chuckle about it.i usually make sure the marks look untouched, and even try to line up the match marks in the same spot.
its kinda an insult to me and my professionalism that people can be so untrusting.but that said im not suprised they are when there are rogue grease monkeys out there

Your profession is sometimes an insult to it's customers though mate. I just had an engine rebuilt that died before 1500km and the mechanic didn't want to know me. It's like everything mate, the bad people make it worse for the good ones, and I am sure 90% of people have at least one bad story about being ripped by a mechanic. If you are a good one, I applaud you, but in my opinion, you would be in a minority in general.

i know what your saying,
the way i work and the way i look at cars,i look at them as if they were my own and ask myself would i really be happy with that?
some of that has been instilled from my dad from a young age too.
id rather take my time and get a job done right the first time than rush it and have it done half assed.

Agreed, Mate, It's a insult to me as a customer that I have to do this. That I have taken cars to places where I pay "ZE EXPERTZ" to do the proper job and they dont. It's an insult to my fucken intelligence when they flat lie to me about things ; in order to try to squeeze more money out of me.
You might be the 1 in 100 that isn't like that; but as brian said, you're being undermined by the cowboys in your field.

Hey Lee
Can you supply and fit some hectic anodised valve caps for my wheels?
It's a pretty serious job, so if you go over 2 hours please call before spending more time on it.

I can help you with that dude - Put it in neutral with the handbrake off on flat ground.
Get a tape measure and measure exactly 355.8 bee's dicks. Put a mark on the ground with
chicken blood and drive your car onto the chicken blood. That will give you 1 exact rotation
of all 4 tyres. Repeat 2 more times for your 3 total rotations. There is one more thing though.
You need to put the dead chicken in the glove box and leave it there a minimum of 3 days, but no
more than 75 hours, or the rotation will be undone.
Happy motoring
