hang... cage requirements for 10.00 - 10.99..

required for where monocore construction of vehicle is modified????

does this mean, if the car is stock, it does not need a cage?????

Either that is a typo or its wrong, here it is out of the rule book

Quote

street rego cars with a fixed steal roof and unmodified monocoque construction running between 10.00 an 10.99 and/or less then 140mph (4 point)

6point for over 140mph

Would you mind not spamming my tech thread with this crap - It is supposed to be for beginners - lol

I think you are going to find guys that the first 60 foot is the hardest part of the racetrack for 90% of all drivers. If you can do an impressive time to 60, you are always going to have a good run from there.

If I may just add my 1st experience to the track in Sept 2008 and to support Ivans experience.

I almost ended up in the sand trap as well on my 1st run and that's with my headlights on. When it got a bit darker I put my hi beams on only to see the trap coming at me.

I had been around the track off and on for 25yrs but actually racing on the track for the 1st time gave a whole different perspective.

My suggestion for all new racers and I should have taken this advice, Take it easy on the 1st run especially if like my 1st run was at night.

as for doing burnouts or not, as was said in the other thread it comes down to what tyres. I know if I do a little burnout on most low profile tyres, I get little balls of rubber stuck to the tyre. So really you have next to no rubber making contact with the strip.

When Lee and Nat where using the TOYO PROXIES they were gold after 5 secs of smoke

As I said in the other thread Ben - Low profile tyres are not real good for drag racing anyway.
I will take your word for it about the burnout

There are 2 big yellow lights at the finish line though Joe on the concrete walls

You can't miss them. My point before was that if they did a driver briefing, you would have known
that and probably would have stopped earlier

Everyone has to report to the shed to sign in. They could do it there

It would take 1 minute

Could just have a short video constantly going on repeat. They don't get signed off til they watch it once over. Cheap and effective.

That's right Mark - Like Gup does - And you get a stamp on your arm or something to say you have done it

Or even an extra mark next to your number on your window so the tower and starter can see you have done it

That's right Brian and there's also a think called tunnel vision

That 1st run I saw nothing but what was directly in front of my eyes

Luckily the car in the other lane was slower as I most likely would have ran into it

Like I said that was my 1st experience at going down the track and can appreciate where Ivan is coming from

they need a sign with somehting like this at the front of the staging lanes, and have it so it has arrows pointing to what things are, and a brief description on wat u need to do and stuff,

that way when people are waiting in staging lanes bored, they will no doubt look at the sign infront of them and for the new guys give them an idea on wat to expect and do.

And like I said Joe, if you had been warned before hand about the yellow lights you would have been looking for them

I would get pissed off if I had to watch a briefing everytime I went to race. Be a bit of a pain in the ass for the people who have done hundreds of runs before.

Throw something up on the website, in car video of a run would be plenty - from staging lanes to return road
Its a LETHAL thing.... You wouldn't understand....

...or WOULD you...

Nobody would look at it Mick

The video I am talking about would take 1 minute or less.

Maybe they could have a system where they give you a little
card or something to say you have raced before so you wouldn't
have to do it again

12 month certificate if you have attended a T&T and watched a video? If there are any changes you have to sit on another video

certificate doesn't have to be fancy, just a signature from a WB employee

plus you cant pay until you show a certificate when you show your license
